Two programmes compiled and introduced by A.L. Lloyd
The Rumanian countryside abounds in humble professional musicians, mostly gypsies, including many remarkable virtuosi. Their music impinges on the 'classical' folk song of the peasants, but is separate from it.
A.L. Lloyd recently spent some months in Rumania investigating the social, economic, and artistic life of these minstrels and recording their music.
