Cancer

Cancer is the second biggest killer disease. On current evidence one in five people die from it and one in four contract it during their lives. Yet weight of informed medical opinion is more optimistic than these statistics would suggest. The first part of tonight's programme assesses the state of knowledge about cancer and Outlines recent developments in the prevention and cure of the many forms of this disease. The contributors include some leading medical scientists.
Part two presents recorded highlights of the phone-in when listeners were invited to put their questions direct to a panel of cancer specialists. Producer MICHAEL BRIGHT
