Phyllida Lloyd 's new production for Opera North uses the original dialogue in a new English version by Kenneth McLeish. Francois-Benoit Hoffmann's libretto traces the tragedy which ensues when Medea fails to prevent her husband's remarriage to King Creon's daughter, Dirce.
