British Film Night: Station 6 Sahara

on BBC One London

Tonight's film in a season of outstanding feature films of the last ten years stars Carroll Baker, Ian Bannen, Denholm Elliott, Peter Van Eyck

The mutual contempt of five men confined in a remote desert pumping station turns to open hatred when an attractive woman arrives on the scene unexpectedly.
Produced in 1962 as a joint British-West German production, Station 6 Sahara features fine performances from Ian Bannen as a coarse Scot and Denholm Elliott as an ex-British officer. Carroll Baker of Baby Doll fame plays the girl who changes all their lives very dramatically. A taut script by Bryan Forbes and Brian Clemens and determined direction by Seth Holt turn this exciting story into an original and intelligent film.
