A documentary record of what happened to two English working men in the week they tried their luck in Paris labour exchanges.
They were brothers - Derek and Geoffrey Hopley - both unemployed - from Oswestry in Shropshire. When Britain joined the Common Market, they took advantage of the new right of every Briton to seek work in Europe. Derek Hopley had some French, and with enough money for seven days in Paris, they crossed the Channel in high hopes of an economic miracle.
