George Melly with the Radio 2 Arts Programme

on BBC Radio 2

George Melly visits the International Festival of the Sea, staged by the city of Bristol. It is the largest maritime festival ever held in Britain, playing host to over 700 ships, among them the HMS Rose - the world's largest wooden ship - and the Matthew, a replica of the boat that took Cabot to seek North America.
On land, Melly meets up with David Puttnam who is presiding over the Film
Festival of the Sea. And he talks to John Ryan , creator of the classic animation
Captain Pugwash, as well as many other performers, artists and visitors drawn to this event.
