The pessimists feel that entry into the European Economic Community could seriously threaten our role as sterling and world bankers, and foresee the possibility of losing our right to manage our own economy as we see fit. The optimists, particularly in merchant banking and insurance, look forward to a boom. What price might we have to pay for entry?
