Afternoon Theatre: When the Director-General of the Prison Service Served Six Months for a Tax Fiddle

on BBC Radio 4 FM

by Bjorn Runeborg
translated and adapted for radio by Ann Henning

A satire on Sweden's prison service, one of the more enlightened in the world. Prisoners enjoy wages, trades unions, visiting wives and girlfriends. But in spite of the officialdom, social reformers and even 'the enlightened' still regard themselves as 'us' and criminals as 'them' ... until the Director-General is sent to jail for six months.
