Wildlife on One Easter Special

on BBC One London

Shadow of the Hare. Why do we eat chocolate eggs? Who is the Easter bunny? And why do we call it Easter anyway? The answers are to be found in the everyday life of one of Britain's most enigmatic animals - the brown hare. Using dramatic footage of hare behaviour, this film shows some remarkable connections between natural history and mythology. It also combines a lyrical portrait of the countryside with songs in old English, performed by Maddy Prior. Producer Steve Nicholls says, "The film is a celebration of the English landscape, into which the hare fits beautifully." Narrated by David Attenborough. Series producer Mike Beynon
