Across the Great Divide: A Misfit

on BBC One London

"I told my people - I said I'll come back and see you in six months - there wasn't cheer or a pleasant look in the bunch, and I said to this young girl... 'I'll come back in six months and take you to Canada.' That's 76 years ago." (Jimmy Simpson)

Cliff Michelmore talks to Jimmy Simpson, an alert and wiry 93-year-old, who was shipped out to Canada when he was only 17 years old. He went west when it was still the rough, tough pioneer country of the movies. Jimmy pieces together a life-story in which he seems to have had not nine, but 15 lives.
