John Buchan 's ever-popular spy thriller, first published in 1915, is dramatised in two parts by Bert Coules. A gang of German spies is hot in pursuit of Richard Hannay and a notebook which contains the secret of the 39 steps. Hannay must unlock the notebook's secrets if he is to save the British naval fleet from certain destruction.
