Music written in Capetown in the Last Years
Noel Eadie (Soprano)
The Wireless Symphony Orchestra.
Conducted by Leslie Heward

The composer of this Symphony was born at St. Albans in 1871. Winning a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, London, he was for a time a Professor of Harmony there, but gave that up to become Director of the South African College of Music at Cape Town. He was appointed to the newly-formed chair of music in the University of Cape Town in 1918, and later became Dean of its Faculty of Music. His later orchestral works are often played by the Cape Town Municipal Orchestra. Most of his earlier works were produced in England, and he conducted at the St. Albans Pageant in 1907 (for which he composed the music), and in 1911 at the Festival of Empire.
