Liverpool v Everton
Introduced by Jimmy Hill with Trevor Brooking

Of the 136 League derbies played between the giants of Merseyside, all of them in the First Division, Liverpool have won 48 to Everton's 47, with 41 games drawn. These clubs head the parade of champions, Liverpool having won the title 16 times and Everton taking their total to nine last season.

Since then, Liverpool have sold Ian Rush to Italy, the exciting talents of John Barnes and Peter Beardsley have arrived, and John Aldridge has scored in match after match in the Barclays League this season.

Everton's main change has been in command, with Colin Harvey promoted to succeed Howard Kendall. The man to watch: Everton's number 9 Graeme Sharp, shooter of six goals in two matches in October.
