Sol Plaatje - South Africa's Renaissance Man

Sol T Plaatje was one of the most gifted black
South Africans of the early 20th century. He made outstanding contributions to literature and journalism, and was a founder member of the African National Congress and its first secretary-general. He wrote a diary of the Siege of Mafeking-the only account by an African - which was rediscovered in the 1960s. Mike Popham tells his story. Producer Molly Price-Owen (R)
