A Contemporary Account, by A. Spinnle Shanks, Esquire, of the Official Launch of the S.B. Queen Bee (formerly known as the 123) (N.B.-S.B. denotes sail-boat, and the word official is used in connection with the launch because the S.B. Queen Bee, then known as the 123, launched herself unofficially the night before and had to be pulled on to the stocks again by one of the Cleansing Department horses.)
Denizens of Aberdeen are rightly proud of their achievements, but two leviathans have recently appeared in Scotland for which they cannot by any stretch of imagination claim the credit. Reference is made, of course, to the Loch Ness monster and the Cunarder Queen Mary, which was launched on September 26. A programme has already been given dealing with monsters, the aim of which presumably was to demonstrate that Aberdeen had forgotten more about these creatures than other people remembered. Now listeners art to have the launching of the S.B. Queen Bee. She will be a bonny boat, though unlikely to become quite as famous as the Queen Mary.
