The BBC4 Samuel Johnson Prize: the Award

on BBC Four

David Dimbleby hosts the fourth annual non-fiction awards ceremony from London, in which the winner receives £30,000 and each of the remaining shortlisted authors £1,000. The nominees are Eamon Duffy, William Rennes, Richard Hamblyn, Roy Jenkins, Margaret Macmillan and Brendan Simms. On the judging panel are scientist Richard Fortey and literary luminaries Caroline Gascoigne, Bonnie Greer and Robert Harris.
