A commentary during play in the First Women's Cricket Test Match by Marjorie Pollard from Northampton County Cricket Ground.
This is the first women's Test Match ever to be played in this country, but three matches have been played in Australia, England winning two and the third being drawn. England will be captained by Miss Molly Hide, who was a member of the England team that went to Australia in 1934, while Australia will be captained by Mrs. Margaret Peden. The umpires will be women - Miss K. Doman and Miss P. Drake. The game should last three days. Miss Marjorie Pollard , who will give the commentary today and on Monday and Tuesday, June 14 and 15, at 1.15 p.m., must be one of the best-known women cricketers in England.
