The unravelling of the mysteries of Ancient Egypt has been one of the great archaeological undertakings of the last 200 years. But what about its music? Is it possible to hearthe sounds that once filled the great temples of Luxor and the burial chambers of Thebes? One man has spent his life trying to prove that the music sung by Coptic monks in modern Egypt is as close as we can ever hope to get to hearing the music of the pharaohs.
