In 1830. Joseph Smith Jr, the seml-litcrate son of a poor farmer in New York State, published the Book of Mormon, a gospel, he claimed, long buried and discovered by him under the guidance of Moroni, the Angel of the Lord. The Book contained a momentous revelation - that Jesus performed a second ministry on American soil. Joseph Smith 's mission was to lead the Saints and establish the Kingdom ot God on earth.
