The Kurds of Northern Iraq have felt the full brunt of Saddam Hussein 's ire: forced deportations, massacres and, in 1988, the use of deadly chemical weapons on thousands of people. But since 1991, the Kurds have been protected by a British-American no-fly zone and are now experiencing an economic boom. War in Iraq will change all this.
