Advice on Majorca and some of the historical material used in the programme supplied by Eric Whelpton It is foolhardy to plan perfect bliss. Chopin and George Sand did this when in 1838 they wintered together in the deserted monastery of ValUemosa on the island of Majorca, and they rutfered every kind of disaster known to the gods. The Valldemosa Affair tries to recapture some of the quality of this remarkable episode.
