Florence Hooton has had extensive experience at the microphone. She has been broadcasting ever since Savoy Hill days, and was the first cellist to play for television. At the age of six she made her first public appearance as a pianist, and thereafter studied the cello at the London Violoncello School and the Royal Academy of Music. She has given several important first performances with orchestra, the most recent being William Busch's Cello Concerto at the Prom on August 13.
