Recently Eugene lonesco, one of the founding fathers of the Theatre of the Absurd, was awarded the Welsh Arts Council's International Writers' Prize. HALLAM TENNYSON interviewed him in French when he visited Wales to receive his prize. lonesco talks about his view of the contemporary theatre and his own vehement commitment to the politics of freedom. In this edited version Hallam Tennyson translates his questions and gives an indication of the contents of the French author's replies.
