In the 1960s British Rail phased out their steam trains in favour of diesel and electric. But in many parts of Britain enthusiasts were setting up preservation societies to revive the use of steam locomotives and reopen and run branch lines. Those taking part include:
THE BISHOP OF WAKEFIELD; VISCOUNT GARNOCK, Director of three private railway lines; JOHN VAN RIEMSDIJK Of the Science Museum; PETER MANISTY , Chairman of the Association of Railway Preservation Societies; and ALAN BLOOM , Director of Bressingham Steam Museum Producer GRAHAM TAYAR
