Wildlife on One: The American Eagle

on BBC One London

Introduced by David Attenborough

The emblem of the United States, the American eagle has been so neglected that it is now officially labelled an 'endangered species' in the southern 48 states.

A national bird should be amongst a country's most treasured possessions, yet only far to the north. in Alaska and Canada, does it still survive happily.

It is to Alaska's snowy mountains and coastal forests that cameraman Steve Smith takes us to view this magnificent bird - including an extraordinary winter gathering of literally thousands of eagles.
