(The recorded broadcast of April 29)
The German writer Heinrich Boll has been compared to Graham Greene , with whom he has many affinities, notably m choosing subjects with a background of moral conflict within the context of the Roman Catholic Church. A Day Like Any Other, first broadcast in Germany in 1953, is a comedy with undertones of tragedy but lacking the bitterness that characterises much of Boll's writing.
