by ANTHONY TROLLOPE adapted for radio in thirteen episodes by H. Oldfield Box Episode 9
Sir Roger Scatcherd is dead. His son Louis is a weakling and a waster, unlikely to live long. So, under the terms of Sir Roger's will, Mary Thorne , the doctor's niece, may soon inherit the bulk of Sir Roger's great fortune.
But Lady Arabella knows nothing of this. Convinced that the doctor is plotting to bring about a marriage between her son Frank and Mary, she has decided that all intercourse between the two houses must end.
