Wigan won 13-8. Last season at this stage, St Helens demolished Leeds 32-12, before themselves going out in the third round to Wigan, who went on to record their fifth successive cup triumph. However, this season the Saints have beaten Wigan twice, including a 41-6 Boxing Day defeat, and the championship seems destined to be won by one of these arch rivals.
