THE BEGGARMEN and surprise guests
Folk and country news; reviews of latest records from JIM LLOYD
Contra-bass fiddle, BRIAN BROCKLEHURST
Produced by BILL BEBB
On Saturday, 15 July 1967, Rog Whittaker introduced the first-ever Country Meets Folk programme. Today, just over two years later, he appears on the show as a special guest of regular compere Wally Whyton. During this time many Folk and Country groups have made their radio debut on the show. Tonight is no exception, as it features the Manchester folk group, the Beggarmen, on their first-ever broadcast, as well as firm country favourites the King Pins.
