Paul Allen and biographer Jonathan Bate visit rural Northamptonshire to discuss the tragic life and work of poet John Clare , who was born into poverty and was an agricultural worker until he was discovered by London society. He came to be regarded as one of the great Romantic poets and spent the last 23 years of his life confined in a mental asylum in Northampton. Producer Ekene Akalawu
