The Renga Story

on BBC Radio 3

In the spring of 1969, and over a period of five days in Paris, an English poet, a French poet, a Spanish poet and an Italian poet were brought together to work on a communal poem. Tonight Charles Tomlinson tells the story of Renga, and how it was produced by Jacques Roubaud, Octavio Paz, Edoardo Sanguineti and himself. He introduces extracts both in the original languages and in his own English translation.
