Sydney Howard was one of Britain's top box-office draws. He starred in the West End with such giants as Leslie Henson , Fred Astaire , Arthur Riscoe and Stanley Holloway. He had an enormously successful film career - and went to
Hollywood as well. In his later years he lived like a lord on the French Riviera. Today though, even northerners find it hard to remember him. Narrator Ken Cooper BBC North (R)
