It used to be called 'Scripture' or ' Divinity and for most people it meant the missionary journeys of St Paul or learning the Beatitudes by heart. But its modern successor, ' Religious Education is under attack, its critics claiming that it is badly taught, boring and inappropriate in a largely secular society.
