A celebration of the genius of George Gershwin in the year which marks the 50th anniversary of his death.
In a concert recorded at the Barbican Hall, London, the BBC Concert Orchestra, leader Martin Loveday, is conducted by Robin Stapleton. With a selection of pieces, familiar and unfamiliar, including 'An American in Paris', 'Cuban Overture', 'Lullaby' and 'Promenade'.
Piers Lane is the piano soloist in 'Rhapsody in Blue' and the 'Three Preludes'.
Guest singers Mary Carewe and Lindsay Benson present selections of songs from the great Gershwin shows in new arrangements by Peter Hope and Gordon Langford.
