Sylvania Waters

on BBC One London

An ordinary Australian family feature in this
12-part fly-on-the-wall documentary that looks at the lives of some real-life Neighbours. Filmed in a well-off suburb of Sydney, it focuses on the Baker-Donaher family as they take on the world - and each other. The series became a national talking point when it was shown in Australia last year, criticised by some for its portrayal of Australians as crass, materialistic and bigoted, and praised by others for its social insight.
Producer Paul Watson , who made the acclaimed 1970s series The Family, says: "We have pulled out the authentic dramas and particular stories that make the family unique, but with which we can all identify. It is a living soap opera." Directors Brian Hill and Kate Woods
