Christopher Hope talks to Douglas Livingstone. Acclaimed as the elder statesman of South African poetry,
Livingstone works as a microbiologist, testing for pollution in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Durban. He talks about his childhood in Malaya and recites poems about the flora and fauna of South Africa.
