The Summer Laughter series having departed with the passing of Summer-time, its place is now taken by Burlesque, in the hope that an antidote will thus be provided to the sadness of autumn and the grimness of approaching winter. The title is used to include all the more irresponsible (or is it serious?) forms of drama-satire, farce, parody, and so on. Nothing will be safe from attack by the sharp pen of the writer of comedy. We shall attempt occasionally to laugh at ourselves, and we invite you to join in the sport of laughing at the other fellow (the same thing, of course!)
We begin the series with a glimpse at one of our oldest national institutions, the Punch-and-Judy show.
