Debussy's languid prelude is paired with Ravel's darkly virtuosic left-hand concerto written for Paul Wittgenstein. Between these pieces, a new work by the orchestra's associate composer-the second "panel" of a triptych which gives prominence to different sections of the orchestra. The season's Old Testament theme continues with Vaughan Williams 's rarely-performed masque, taking its inspiration from illustrations of William Blake. Presented by Tommy Pearson.
