World History
' The Story of Mohammed'
DOUGLAS DUFF
Mohammed, founder of one of the world's great religions, lived nearly 1,400 years ago in Arabia. He came of undistinguished parents and spent a boyhood of comparative poverty in the ancient city of Mecca, which is today the headquarters of the great religion of Islam.
This afternoon's broadcast will tell the story of the prophet's boyhood, describe what happened when he grew up, and how he came to be called ' the Prophet of God '. Before the new religion was established he had a great many strange adventures and some of these will be included in the programme.
