with Brian Lawrance and the Novelty Septet
To the delight of his many admirers Fred Hartley made his debut in the wartime programmes on November 1, and now they will be even happier that Brian Lawrance is to broadcast with him again.
It was a gramophone company that sent Lawrance to Hartley just over five years ago. As vocalist to Hartley and his Novelty Quintet he gave his first broadcast, and as Hartley's vocalist he rose to stardom.
And so these two great favourites take part once more in a programme of music, even though the Novelty Septet is a different combination from Fred Hartley 's famous quintet, which was formed in 1931 and was constantly on the air until the outbreak of war.
