To Have, or to Hold?
Divorce today can be a costly life sentence-for men. That's the claim of a growing number of husbands who feel their exwives are exploiting the law to the point of extortion. Or even worse, to jail: in 1977 there were two-and-a-half thousand imprisonments for failure to pay maintenance. But are these men simply trying to wash their hands of responsibility for the past, and for the future - their children? And haven't women, after centuries of maltreatment and injustice, only now reached the stage where they can claim some 'justice in divorce '?
