Alcoholism
Only recently has alcoholism come to be recognised as one of the most costly and pervasive of health hazards. The media have reacted with their own form of shock treatment. Yet, surprisingly, the basic questions-Who is an alcoholic? How does one become an alcoholic? Can one be cured? - are hard to answer.
In the first half of this programme scientist Brian J. Ford presents the views of those best qualified to know the answers.
In the second half he invites listeners who want help or information to phone the studio and speak to:
Bill Kenyon , Executive Director of the Merseyside Council on' Alcoholism, and Marcus Grant. Director of the Alcohol Education Centre. Producers HUGH PURCELL and WALTER WALLICH
