19,340 feet above the plains of Tanzania, it presents a formidable challenge for climbers. Yet you need not be a professional to tackle it.
Last year 8,000 people attempted the ascent - among them Cindy Selby. She reports on the climb and on the extraordinary phenomenon of Kilimanjaro itself.
