An account of the rehabilitation of Jeanne d'Arc by RENÉ HAGUE
On July 7, 1456. the commission appointed by Pope Calixtus III to examine the trial of Jeanne d Arc in 1431 pronounced the sentence of rehabilitation which annulled the earlier proceedings. The inQuiry. which was based on the written record of 1431 and the evidence of witnesses who had known Jeanne (including some who had taken part in her trial) was chiefly conducted by the InQuisitor of France.
