On 4 January 1980, the world's headlines reported the kidnapping of MRS TELERI JONES and her son, OWAIN. in the Perija Mountains of Colombia.
For seven months they were held to ransom by members of the pro-Cuban National Liberation Army, forced to march through jungles dodging army patrols, sustained only by a poor diet.
