The Story of Cortisone by a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians
Recent experiments suggest that rheumatoid arthritis is caused by the abnormal working of the adrenal glands, and that in the future it may be possible to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis by giving cortisone or, as it is sometimes called, Compound E. In this ' Science Survey ' a physician from the rheumatism department of a London hospital describes the discovery of cortisone, and the present difficulties in producing it except for laboratory tests.
