Danish pianist Niels Lan Doky was something of a prodigy. At the age of 17, trumpeter Thad Jones took him under his wing and encouraged Niels to study at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Niels quickly moved to New York and immersed himself in the jazz scene playing alongside greats such as Joe Henderson, Clark Terry and Charlie Haden. Tonight, in performances from a recent concert at Ronnie Scott's club in London, Niels plays music from his latest recording, Asian Sessions, which explores the relationship of Vietnamese and Chinese music with jazz.
