ANIMAL CLOCKS by A. D. Lees , Ph.D. of the A.R.C. Unit of Insect Physiology, Cambridge
Many animals have a well-developed time sense Without it honey bees and migrating birds could not navigate, and greenfly could not tell summer from autumn. This timekeeping is so accurate that the processes concerned are called ' internal clocks.' Recent research has located these clocks, but how they work is not yet known.
