Fred Reed has spent most of his life in and around the mining village of Ashington in Northumberland. He writes poetry in his native Northumbrian dialect which he admires for its simplicity and strength. He talks to Alan Haydock about his life and reads some of his poems.
The programme is introduced by the novelist and critic Sid Chaplin.
