The Story Beneath the Sands

on BBC One London

with John Coston
The Lost Palaces of Nineveh
Thousands of years ago Nineveh was a great city, so large that it took Jonah three days to walk across it. Then the city fell into decay and vanished: even its whereabouts were forgotten. But 150 years ago the palaces of Nineveh were rediscovered and with them the whole history of the Kings of Assyria which had been lost for thousands of years. Today JOHN COSTON visits Baghdad and the river Tigris to tell the story of the once-great city of Nineveh. Storyteller
